Diario de Trieste , Preolímpic Womens Tournement 2012

Resumen :
Informe Trieste 2012 Womens Preolimpic Tournement, 15-22 abril 2102
En la ciudad de Trieste , a orillas del Adriático, tuvo lugar este Torneo clasificatorio femenino  para los juegos de Londres 2012 entre los pasados días 15 a 22 de abril de 2012.
Los árbitros de 9 nacionalidades distintas más otros 4 neutrales nos hospedamos en el Hotel Gran Duchi d´ Aosta en el mismísimo centro de Trieste celebrándose la competición en jornadas  de tarde ( a excepción de la última jornada del domingo 22 )  en la magnífica instalación  Bruno Bianchi que , a su vez, es Centro Federal de Tecnificación de la FIN                       ( Federación Italiana ) y ha albergado grandes eventos en todas las especialidades acuáticas.
Los 9 equipos participantes quedaron enmarcados en 2 grupos , tras la Fase Preliminar, se enfrentarían en partidos de ¼ de Final , partidos a “muerte” , para acceder a las 4 plazas olímpicas disponibles tras la renuncia del país representante del continente africano para junto a los equipos ya clasificados de CHN,USA ,AUS y GBR  completar el cuadro de equipos de Londres 2012.

Nuestro equipo que venía de vencer en la Kirishy Cup , hizo los deberes de forma brillante y no sólo obtuvo su clasificación para Londres 2012 , como ya lo hizo el equipo masculino días antes en el Preolímpico de Edmonton, sino que se proclamó vencedor del Torneo siendo el verdadero equipo revelación del Torneo .

Vencimos por 2 veces a las Italianas ( Campeonas de Europa ), vencimos en ¼ de Final y eliminamos a las griegas ( Campeonas del Mundo ) y sólo perdimos por la mínima y en los últimos instantes del partido  con Hungria y con Rusia en la Fase preliminar.
Este joven equipo, dirigido por Micky Oca, nos deparará grandes sorpresas en el futuro y marcará un antes y un después en nuestro waterpolo femenino.
En lo que hace referencia a mi participación cómo árbitro,  estuve en  los siguientes partidos :

Dia 8 , domingo 22/04/2012 , a por el oro ate ITA !! ...yo, pito el bronce HUN-RUS y regresamos a casa !!

 Así es , no solo nuestro equipo ha logrado clasificarse para los Juegos de Londres 2012 sinó que luchará por el oro ante los italianas a quines ya vencieron en la fase preliminar aquí en Trieste.
 Por mi parte , tendré el honor de dirigir el partido por el bronce entre HUN - RUS junto a Bianchi (ITA) . La final la pitarán Williams (NZL) y Danelón (BRA).
 Verdaderamente puedo afirmar que un preolímpico tiene tanto nivel como un Campeonato del Mundo sólo que en lugar de optar a ese título , se juegan su participación en unos Juegos.
 Por ello , estoy muy contento de haber sido designado para el bronce y para nada me sabe mal , en este caso, no haber sido designado para la final pues ello conlleva que nuestro equipo está luchando por el oro.

Kazakhstan-Canada 2-17
Canada rankend on seventh. The Noth Americans beated Kazakhstan 17-2. on the last day of the Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament. Kazakhstan managed to score its first when was alread down by 11 in the third quarter with Turova. Four goals scored by the center Alogbo

Greece-Netherlands 10-11
Netherlands ranked of fifth position after beating Greece in the 5th-6th final of the Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament, a match between the most disappointed teams for missing the pass. To get to a final result, the game endid with extratime: 10-11. After the four periods it was 9-9. The Olympic champions of Netherlands went up by three with a good first half; Cabout scored for 6-3 closing the second period. The World Champions of Greece came back in the fourth and with a break of 5-1 moved ahead with the goal scored by Roumpesi for 8-7. Sevenich scored the last for 9-9 during the fourth period. In the first extratime Hakhverdian scored on extramen without the goalie, in second Smit realized for 11-9. Roumpesi scored last

Hungary-Russia 13-18
Russia earned rank three by beating Hungary 18-13. Hungary was never able to go ahead while Russia had a great shot efficienty. The match was tied until the beginning of second period, when Toth scored on powerplay for 5-5. Russia came back with a break fo 5-2 went up by three. Russia was able to go on +4 and even +5 and to defend the gap.

Spain-Italy 9-5
Spain beated Italy and won th Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament, held in Trietse, with the score of 9-5. Spain confirmed to be among the top teams, maybe the best improved. Spain reached a +5 advantage when Meseguer scored on pwerplay for 7-2. Italy came back with a 3-0 break with Di Mario, Emmolo and Abbate: with 8' to go it was 7-5. But in the last period Italy could not score anymore while Lopez and Ortizi did it.

 Hoy dejaremos esta bonita ciudad de Trieste que se ha convertido en nuestro hogar durante esta semana y que quedará en el recuerdo para siempre de nuestras jugadoras , técnicos, delegado y , en general , de todo el waterpolo español por haber sido la ciudad dónde se consiguió el pase para los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2012....
 Yo dejaré atrás otra grata experiencia de arbitraje y de convivencia con compañeros venidos de todo el mundo  y 28 partidos más presenciados de los cuales he estado presente en 6 ( 5 como árbitro y otro más otro como juez de gol ).

Kazakhstan-Greece 9-21
Greecemade its step towards the 5th-6th final. Today the beated Kazakhstan with the score of 21-9.Two long 6-0 break made it easy for the Greeks that scores in a row from 1-2 to 1-8 and from 5-11 to 5-17. Best scorer was Tsoukala with six.

Canada-Netherlands 13-16
Netherlands reached Greece in the 5th-6th final game. The oranges beated Canada with the score of 16-13 leaded by Van Belkum, scorer of five. Netherlands will now face Greece for the 5th position in the tournament

Hungary-Spain 8-10
The surprising Spain of this tournament managed to reach the final game. In the semifianl they beated Hungary 10-8. The spanish were ahead from the beginning. Hungary could tie only on 4-4. The match came to its end in the fourth period. From a 8-7 score, Espar and Pena scored for 10-7 and sent their team to play for the tournament tomorrow. Hungary will play for third position

Russia-Italy 13-14
The locals of Italy are in the final. Tomorrow will face Spain to get first position in the tournament. Today they beated Russia in a tough and exciting game, decided in the end by Tania Di Mario who scored six, including the one for 14-12.

 Hoy es una mañana de felicidad , nuestro equipo femenino ya tiene su billete para Londres y , por primera vez en la histotai de nuestro deporte , tendremos representación femenina en unos juegos.
  Es ahora cuando recuerdo que hace 25 años , cuando empecé a arbitrar, la presencia del waterpolo femenino era casi testimonial ( C.E,Mediterrani, C.N.Catalunya,C.N.Sant Feliu y pocos más...) limitándose a equipos absolutos pues no existian categorias. Mucho se ha trabajado desde entonces y hoy el panorama es , francamente , distinto. Y nuestro equipo , un equipo muy joven , trabajando como lo está haciendo, nos deparará en el futuro muchas alegrias.
 Sin quitar mérito a las 13 jugadoras que ayer hicieron un partidazo , bueno es atribuir este éxito a toda la familia del waterpolo español ( jugadoras,técnicos,clubs,directivos,federaciones ) pues mucho se ha trabajado para conseguir la guinda de esta clasificación olímpica.
 Exitos colectivos como el bronce en el Europeo de Málaga 2008 de la mano de Vicens Tarres o de clubs como la Final Four del Sabadell del 2011 de la mano de Nani Guiu o el reciente Campeonato del Mundo Junior ( en esta misma ciudad de Trieste )  hacian presagiar que este equipo, dirigido por Micky Oca , tiene mucho pero que mucho futuro visto el juego en este Preolímpico como he visto en directo ante potencias de primer orden a nivel mundial.
 En este jornada , yo descanso y nuestro equipo , sin nervios ni tensiones acumuladas se enfrentará a Hungria , que ha mostrado un potente juego , por un pase a la Final .

Dia 6 , viernes 20/04/2012 , empiezan los cruces, ESP-GRE por una plaza para Londres y yo, pito el ITA-NED

















Todo a una sola carta .... ya se sabia que lo más importante era y es este partido. De los 8 equipos participantes, sólo 4 accederan a la ansiada plaza olímpica. Para nuestra selección femenina seria su primera participación en unos Juegos. Tod el trabajo de todos estos años a un sólo partido.

 Tras la Kirishy Cup , en este Preolímpico se ha ganado a Italia y perdido por la mínima ante potencias como Rusia y Hungria , dando la cara hasta el último suspiro. De tu a tu... Sólo falta un peldaño más...

 El destino ha querido que nos crucemos con Grecia ( actual Campeona del Mundo y Subcampeona de Europa ) .

 Muchos ánimos EQUIPO !!

 En mi caso , dirigiré junto al griego Stravridis el ITA-NED ( actual Campeona de Europa contra vigente Campeona Olímpica )  ahí es nada.... Muy contento con mi primera participación en un Preolímpico. Otra gran experiencia !!!
Por la mañana visitaremos un castillo cercano y tras la finalización de la Jornada tendremos el Official Dinner.

Hungary-Kazakhstan 18-5
Hungary is the first time to qualify for London 2012 in the Olympic Qualification Tournament, in the Bruno Bianchi swimming pool of Trieste. A predictable win against Kazakhstan in the quarter finals of the tournament by the score of 18-5. Hungary went ahead by three before Kazakhstan scored its first. Remarkable match by the center Buika that awarded its team a lot of exclusion and scored four goals.

Russia-Canada 7-6
Russia is the second team to qualify for London 2012 from the tourament staged in Trieste. They won their quarter final against Canada with the final score of 7-6 with a suffered ending. Russia thought to win when Antonova scored for 7-3 in the fourth period. But Canada came back with two goals by Alogbo and one by Csikos for 7-6. At the end with 10" left, Canada called for time-out: Karnaukh saved on a Alogbo shot from the 2 metres and awarded her team the Olympic qualification.

Spain-Greece 9-7
The World Champions are out of the Olympic Games. A great game played by Spain meant the qualification for the Spanish and elimination for the Greeks. At the end it wat 9-7. The game was tied until the end of the second period, ended 6-6. In third Garcia and Espar realized for 8-6 and Gerolymou scored on penalty. Game was decided by the counter attack scored by Tarrago for the final 9-7.

Italy-Netherlands 7-6
The locals of Italy are in! They beated the Olympic Champions of Netherlands by the score of 7-6 and took their tickets for London. Netherlands were ahead 4-2 in the second period. Italy, substained by their supporters, manage to come back and tied at 4, at 5 and at 6. Left handed Emmolo decided with three goals, including the last.









Dia 5 , jueves 19/04/2012 , hoy HUN-ESP !! ...y yo GRE-NED

 Otro apasionante dia en que ESP volverá a enfrentarse por tercer dia consecutivo con otra potencia : Hungria a las 18,40h , en diferido por Raisport 2.

 Pero antes, a las 17,20 h volveré a compartir tareas con el italiano Bianchi en el GRE-NED del grupo B . Ni más ni menos que la vigente Campeona del Mundo ante la actual Campeona Olímpica. Un duelo de altura...

Kazakhstan-Brazil 7-7
In or out. Fifth day in the Bruno Bianchi swimming pool of Trieste for the Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament started with the match that decided who was going to keep playing and who wasn't. Kazakhstan beated Brazil with the score of...and found its way to the quarter finals, which will earn the four passes for London 2012. At the end Kazakhstan and Brazil tied 7-7: the South Americans are out due to the goal difference in comparison with the first or the group, no matter if it will be Greece or Netherlands. All the match was goal by goal. Brazil tried to win by going ahed with Marina Canetti in the period number 4. Gritsenko realized for 7-7 which means Kazakhstan in in the top 8 and tomorrow will play for the Olympic Qualification.

Greece-Netherlands 6-13
Rank 1 in Group B pass by this match: Greece against Netherlands. The world title older against the Olympic title older. Netherlands made by the score of 13-6. The orange played very good water polo gettin a +4 advantage in the second period when Van Belkum scored for 6-2. Greece reacted and went two goals down when Gerolymou scored for 4-6. Just before the goals that decided the game: 4 in a row for the oranges and the score at the end of the third period was 10-4.

Hungary-Spain 10-9
First game to decide group A ranking. Hungary beated Spain by the score of. 10-9. Czigany scored first two goals. Hungarians went up to three with Buika, 5-2, and Szucs, 6-3. But Spain is not over. Four goals in a row and Spanish is ahed by one with Espar on 6-7 and Pena on 7-8 in the fourth period. Hungary set up another aother break: 3 goals in a row and Czigany took their on a 10-8 score with a penalty. Pena realized for 10-9 but Hungarian goalie saved a terrific shot just 14" before the end.

Russia-Italy 15-13
Russia beated Italy 15-13 to conclude Group A games. Italy was ahed by two on a 6-4 score, but 5 Russian goal in a row set the match up for them. Russia got its second place in the ranking with this win; Italy its fourth. Tomorrow will be the very decisive day: let's see what will happen

 Efectivamente , ayer fué una gran Jornada. Mi partido CAN-GRE fué muy bien y nuestras juagadores vencieron , tras una gran remontada , a la actual Campeona de Europa. Hoy se enfrenta a Russia.

Greece-Kazakhstan 16-8
Competition day number four in the Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament opened with Greece that beated Kazakhstan 16-8. The start for the World Champions was not as easy as it was predictable. Kazakhstan stayed in the game Untile the score of 5-4 for Greece. Seven straight goals with Asimaki, Liosi, Gerolymou, Tsoukala twice, Psouni and Antonakou and the score during the third period was 12-4: game over.

Brazil-Canada 4-11
Canada beated Brazil by the score of 4-11. The South-American played a good game in the beginning and stayed in until they tied with Zablith for 3-3 during the second period. Canada closed its door and scored eitgh in a row going up 11-3. Vigna scored last.

Russia-Spain 12-11
A beautiful and exciting match between Russia and Spain. At the end Russia beated Spain 12-11 with a 2" from the end goal.
Russia tried a +3 escape during the third quarter: Prokofyeava scored from 8 meters far for 8-5. Spain reacted by scoring three in a row and the game with Espar. An exciting goal by goal match. Incredible the end. On a 10-10 score Ester saved a penalty shot by Antonova and Garcia realized on extramen for a Spain advantage. Antonova tied 11-11 with 28", Garcia failed a very close one-to-one shot with 5" left and Lisunove decided the match with a far shot with 2" left.

Italy-Hungary 11-9
Another close and exciting match in Group A. The locals of Italy beated Hungary with the score of 11-9: all teams are now tie in the ranking with two points.
Hungary had a great start and went ahead by three. Di Mario tied once at 4 and twice at 5. Bianconi realized in the third quarted for the first Italy advantage. The game went on goal by goal until last period. Italy closed down its goal and found the decisive shots with Cotti and Emmolo

Hoy se augura una gran Jornada.

  A las 17,20h dirigiré junto al italiano Mario Bianchi el CAN-GRE uno de los grandes duelos en el Grupo A y , justo despues , nuestra selección debutará ante las locales y el partido lo pitarán el rumano Matache y el arbitro  neozelandés Williams...
.
 Por la amñana entre 9,00 h y 9,30h tendremos un encuentro ( no sé si Technical meeting ) con Gianni Lonzi en nuestro Hotel.

Kazakhstan-Netherlands 7-15
Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament - day three - openes with the predictable win of Netherlands over Kazakhstan, by the score of 7-15.
The Asians scored their first with Akilbayeva when the Oranges were already up by three. Period 1 ended with the goal made by Van der Sloot for the 4-1 lead. Remarkable save of the goalie Rytova on a penalty shot by Smit, just before three Netherlands' goals in a row which gave the match a precise direction. Good games by the centers Vermeer, who scored four, and Jakayeva, who scored three.

Canada-Greece 2-10
Group B second match confirmed the World Champions of Greece among the best teams. A good start by the Greek, with a very aggressive defence and fast restarts. Gerolymou with a counter-attack, captain Liosi and center Asimaki twice took the Greece ahead by four in the third period, just before Csikos found the net for the first time. Gerolimou punished Canada again and with 8 minutes left the score was 5-1. Last period Greece was almoust perfect. Unbreakable defence and very effective attacks until the final score of 2-10. Very good games by Gerolymou and Tsoukala.

Russia-Hungary 12-13
A very tough and close game officially opened Group A. At the end it comes to Hungary that beated Russia 13-12. Hungary was the first team to get a +2 advantage during the second period thank Antal and Csabai, who scored for 3-5. Russia managed to tie the game in the third, as Prokofyaeva realized for 6-6. Dora Czigany showed her good shape by scoring three in a row and took her team up by two again on a 8-10 score. Russia is not over. Tie again on 10-10 in the fourth: result of the match is decided in last minutes. Dravucz scored for 13-11, Prokofyaeva get 13-12 with 1'03" left, but Baliaeva missed an easy shot from just in front of the goal.

Italy-Spain 9-10
Not a happy starting match for the locals of Italy, beated by Spain with the score of 10-9. European Champions were ahead from the start with the penalty realized by Bianconi and the center goal by Frassinetti and lead the end of the fourth quarter. A great reaction by the Spanish that came ahed with a center goal by Garcia and a precise shot by Espar. Di Mario ties on 7, but three Spanish goals in a row set the match on their side. Too late to tie the game, even after Frassinetti's and Di Mario's goal. It's 9-10 in the end.

 Hoy dia de descanso para mi. He visitado el wellness del hotel y me he podido relajar un poco pues ayer estuve hata las tantas subiendo otos de los partisos ( imagino que será lo que me ocurrirá cada dia... ).
 Las lluvias y las nubes nos han dado tregua y , hemos tenido un dia soleado aunque ventoso.Mañana y pasado, regresan las lluvias...
Tranquilidad , paso a paso .... y a ver a mis compañeros ...

Netherlands-Canada 11-11
A beautiful match opened the second day of competition. Netherlands and Canada played both a good water polo. In the end it comes out a tough game which ended 11-11.
Smit scored the opening goal which gave birth to a very close game with the two teams exchanging the lead. First to get a +2 advantage was Canada: Behavi scored for 4-6 just before the half.
In the third period the oranges had a great reaction by scoring three goals in a row until they take the lead with Mieke Cabout. Just a few seconds before the honk Canadian Radu ties the game: 7-7 with 8 minutes left.
Last period is full of emotional moments. Mieke Cabout scored her fourth per the 11-10 with 32 seconds left. Enough for Csikos, who found the net with 4 seconds left. In the end it's 11-11, the right result of such an exciting match.  ( FIN )

Greece-Brazil 23-4
A pretictable easy start of the Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament for Greece. The World Champions beated Brazil with the large score of 23-4.
It was very difficult for the South-Americans to try to fill the gap between them and the Greeks. Liosi and Gerolymou scored first two goals before the Brazilian Carvalho found the back of the net for a 2-1 initial score. Seven greek goals in a row solved the match already in the second period, when Avramidou scored for 9-1. Greece managed to easily control the game trying strategies for the next days until the final 23-4 score. Brazil managed to score one goal per period. To scorer was Alkisti Avramidou with six.

 Tras desayunar a eso de las 9,00h , hemos quedado a las 12,00h para dar un paseo.

 Nos recogeran a  las 16,45h para ir a la piscina y tras la Oppening Ceremony ( 17,30h ) se iniciará la Competición con 2 partidos del grupo B.

Canada-Kazakhstan 15-4
Women's Water Polo Olympic Qualification Tournament started with the predictable win of Canada against Kazakhstan with the score of 15-4. First goal of the match was scored by Csiknos; Kazakhstan went out with two goal in a row and took the lead, once in the game, by 1-2. The Asians stayed in the match until the half: Canada closed the second period up by two.
The best technical qualities of the Americans were highlighted in the second half of the game. Kazakhstan was not able to score anymore while Canada found often the back of the net. Nine goals scored during the third and fourth periods until the final score of 15-4. Christine Robinson was the best scorer with four; Mr. Oaten team got the first 3 points of the
tournament
Brazil-Netherlands 4-23
Mr Mauro Maugeri came back to its Italy and started the Netherlands' tournament with a large 23-4 win against Brazil. A terrific start by the oranges who scored six goals in a row, three of which by Iefke Van Belkum. Luiza Carvalho beated Holland goalie just before the end of quarter number 1: 6-1 at the honk.
Second period its copy and paste: Netherland pressed Brazil and reached the half up to 12-2. The Oranges served an easy lead and all the non goal keepers players managed to score at least one for a final of 23-4. Best scorer was Inke Van Belkum with four

Dia 0 , sábado 14/04/2012 Viaje, llegada y Technical Meetings

 Esta es la 3ª vez que he sido designado para pitar en una competición FINA, las ocasiones anteriores fueron en categoria masculina en World League ( Macedonia-Croacia 5/12/11 y Rúsia-Italia 15/2/12 ) y en esta ocasión se trata del Torneo Preolímpico de Trieste 2012 en categoria femenina.
 Nos adelantarón la reunión técnica para el sábado a las 18,00h con lo que tanto Gaspar Ventura como yo , debíamos viajar más temprao de lo previsto saliendo de Barcelona a las 06,25h para , via Roma, legar a Trieste sobre las 10,00h de la mañana. Nuestro equipo lo haria a la hora prevista llegando más tarde y , tras instalarse en su hotel , ir a la piscina a realizar su 1ª sesión de entrenamiento sobre las 20,00h.
 El viernes anterior , como es habitual, tuvimos nuestra semanal cena de árbitros que finalizó a eso de la 01,00h de la mañana así que cuando llegue a casa, cómo el taxi que me tenia que llevar al aeropuerto me recogía a las 04,00h ni siquiera me acosté  pues casi no valia la pena...
 Tras llegar al aeropuerto , me trasladaron junto con Gaspar Ventura y el equipo brasileño en autocar al Hotel Gran Ducchi d´Aosta **** que será mi "hogar" durante esta semana.
 El tiempo aquí se preveé nublado y con lluvias.

 A  las 18,30 h nos trasladaron a la piscina y tuvimos , tras visitar la instalación , un Technical Meeting para los árbitros convocados.

 Las instrucciones técnicas recibidas van en línea con las que ya se dieron en Eindhoven en el europeo y en Edmonton en el preolimpico masculino que finalizó la semana pasada y en el que ,  cómo ya sabeis, nuestro equipo consiguió el billete para los juegos de Londres 2012. Veremos que nos depara Trieste y si nuestro equipo femenino puede conseguir ese mismo deseado billete para Londres en la que seria la primera participación de nuestras chicas en unos Juegos en Waterpolo.
 Nos entregaron 2 polos azul marino para arbitrar.
 Más tarde, realizamos el Oppening Meeting a las 20,00h con la presencia de todos los Delegados de equipos participantes , miembros de Bureau de la FINA y Delegados/Evaluadores así cómo de los árbitros.

 En esta reunión , con las presentaciones y bienvenidas de rigor, se dieron instrucciones e indicaciones para la competición , se revisaron pasaportes y , al finalizar la misma , hubo un pequeño refrigerio.
 Llegamos al Hotel a eso de las 21,30h para cenar e irnos a descansar. Las comidas irán por nuestra cuenta y , en el Hotel, desayunaremos y cenaremos.
 Del calendario , destacar que todas las Jornadas son de tarde.
 Mañana domingo se inicia la Competición en la que yo tendré junto a Littlejohn (GBR) ( con el que ya pité en la pasada Universiada 2011 de Shenzhen algunos partidos ) el honor de abrir en el partido inaugural del grupo B : Canadá - Kazakhstan que será a las 18,00h tras la Oppening Ceremony.
